What you need to know
PCSing is a long process that can either be really stressful or go smoothly.

The first steps
To avoid the stress of PCSing attend the original levy brief with your spouse. It’s mainly paperwork, but it helps to get the process started (Let’s face it the spouses always forget anyways). Once you find out where you’re going DO RESEARCH and Join your new duty stations spouse group/welcoming page. Some things you’re going to want to research are, the best schools, communities to live in, costs of living and what the area is like surrounding the base. A lot of your questions can be answered by fellow spouses, or even YouTube! YouTube has a lot of videos of military installations, what they have, the housing and spouses experiences. Also, you should jot down everything you’re learning about the place you’ll be living in next, and any questions you do have for the next briefing. This will help soothe your nerves while staying organized. I found that having an official “PCS” binder really helped me stay organize and on top of things.
